On Friday it will be handed over, the 26 kg heavy Champions Trophy of the German Wrestling League. It is still completely undecided as to who will take it home; will it stay with hosts, the VfK Schifferstadt or will the guest from KSV Ispringen take it to Nordbaden?

Clear however is that the Wilfried-Dietrich-Halle will be sold out on Friday night (doors open at 6.30pm, fights start at 8.30pm).

The team of Markus Scherer and Erol Bayram from Schifferstadt can’t rest on the 13:11 win in the first leg fight. Due to the style change they lose a safe bench with Iakobi Kajaia in the bottom and top class. Furthermore, the team from the Pfalz can’t assume that Manukhar Tskhadaia will again beat Igor Besleaga in the weight class up to 75kg Greco as he lost every single fight against him in the preliminaries.

On the other hand coach Alexander Leipold will hope that his benches will stand and Ardo Arusaar will again beat Georgi Melia. Aside from Anatolli Buruian, Melia was one of two wrestlers who went unbeaten through the preliminaries and only suffered his first season defeat  in the first leg fight.

This shows that the fights on Friday will be a tight affair, with every team point scored being a potential decider and no wrestler can be sure of a win in his duel. There is no other subject being discussed for days In this stronghold of the German wrestling sport, which promises a delightful atmosphere on the day.
