Can Weingarten continue their catch-up race against the leaders Schifferstadt and will Ispringen be able to stay in the leading field in Eisleben? Dealing with those questions, the German Ringer League starts into the upcoming weekend. The focus next Saturday is mainly on Weingarten and the Mineralix Arena, where starting at 7.30 pm DRL leader VfK Schifferstadt wants to take a further step towards the finale at the revived Germanen.
The fact that this is not an easy task for the Pfalz, are shown in the last two rounds in which Weingarten could achieve important victories. In particular, the return of exceptional wrestler Alejandro Valdes on the German mats is a clear advantage for the Nordbaden team. However, the VfK has clearly won the first two bouts against the Germanen and demonstrated with the tight victory in Nendingen, how strong its team is.
The red card, which Schifferstadt coach Markus Scherer was presented with by matchmaker Uwe Steuler last Saturday, shows that we are gradually reaching the finals and the intensity is steadily increasing. The DRL has therefore blocked Markus Scherer for the match in Weingarten, he can follow the match only from the stands.
KSV Ispringen faces a difficult away match at KAV Eisleben (Glückauf-Halle, Saturday, 7.30 pm). Even though Lutherstadt is so far without points, many close matches have shown how strong the team really is. The team of Marco Olschewski will do everything possible again on Saturday, thus Ispringen will face hard task by trying to win the match. For Ispringen, on the other hand, the goal is not to embarrass themselves in regard to the finals, therefore the spectators can once again look forward to highly motivated wrestlers and close, exciting fights.
