The decision of the Swiss district court Vevey brought a groundbreaking success for the German Wrestling League. The DRL had seeeked injunctions against the announced threat of suspension of their wrestlers made by the World Association UWW. The court granted the request today. This means that with immediate effect, the blocks which UWW issued on September 28th, 2017 against the wrestlers represented by the DRL were lifted.

• The UWW was banned from suspending the DRL-represented wrestlers affected by the UWW’s decisions on September 28th , 2017.
• The UWW was prohibited from making any kind of suspension or any other sanction against the wrestlers represented by the DRL (including the ones not yet suspended).
• The UWW was forbidden to prohibit the wrestlers represented by the DRL (including those not yet suspended) from participating in any international tournaments and at the German Wrestling League 17/18.

Delighted by the quick decision in line with the German Wrestling League, DRL Managing Director Markus Scheu said: „We have always said that the threat of blocking our athletes has no legal basis. Today’s decision shows how well founded our legal position is. From now on, all wrestlers on our entry list can start in the DRL without fear of being banned.

Above all, we can now finally focus back on our aim of pushing wrestling forward. We will promptly submit our proposals for a cooperation to the German Wrestling Association.“
