Another success for the German Wrestling League at the district court in Vevey – World Association UWW voluntarily removes bans against all DRL wrestlers

At the hearing on October 17th, 2017 regarding the confirmation of precautionary measures ordered by the Vevey District Court without hearing from the UWW, the UWW removed in its entirety the restrictions imposed on the wrestlers of the DRL on September 28th, 2017 and informed, according to their own statement, all associations affected.

In their remarks, the UWW even stated explicitly that it was clear that they could not prohibit the activities of the wrestlers in the DRL. The district court Vevey will thus only decide whether it will be generally prohibited that the disciplinary chamber of the UWW expresses itself in any way about the incidents in the future.

If the district court of Vevey makes such a decision, any pressure made on the wrestlers of the DRL would be gone. If this is not the case, the DRL could certainly defend itself against future decisions of the UWW successfully, as the previous decisions of the district court Vevey have shown.

„We are glad that the blocks decided by the UWW at the end of September are off the table and our wrestlers can discard all bonds. The participation of Serbian Olympic champion Davor Stefanek, compatriot of UWW President Nenad Lalovic, last Saturday in Eisleben was a clear sign that the top athletes in our league want to go on the mat. We will continue to do everything we can to present sport at the highest level with the German Wrestling League, because wrestling can do more „, says a satisfied DRL Managing Director Markus Scheu.
