Early talks with the German Wrestling Association arranged – DRL satisfied with process result

The German Wrestling League is highly satisfied with the result of today’s case against the German Wrestling Assocoation at the Nuremberg-Fürth district court. Through the agreement: „The two parties agree on early joint discussions, with the aim of a common concept“, the court’s wish for a future in terms of the wrestling sport was taken into account. For the DRL, this also means the recognition of being an eye-to-eye conversation partner with the association in regards to the direction of the top league.

„Today we took a big step forward for German wrestling. After all, our original approach was always to find a common solution with the DRB. We now want to take advantage of this opportunity, „says DRL Managing Director Markus Scheu.

In his detailed remarks, the presiding judge had made it clear that he can understand the legal position of the German Wrestling League, since the European law ignores the specifics of the sport, and thus the single-association principle violates the antitrust law.

The presiding judge also made it clear that, from his point of view, the DRL petition was lacking urgency. Therefore the DRL withdrew the petition.
